Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched their super cheap and affordable Redmi note 11S. It is the latest addition to the Note 11 range and for a mid-range smartphone, it surely packs quite a punch.
Considered to be one of the most loaded mid-range smartphones, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S hits all the right notes as it has an amazing camera, a bright and clear 90Hz AMOLED display and a solid performance chipset.
While the battery is absolutely amazing, the design of the Note 11S is not all that special and it does lack 5G support which according to me is a buzz kill.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S Price and Review in Singapore
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S Price in Singapore
The Redmi Note 11S was launched in March 2022 but is yet to release in the market to the general public.
As of 23 August 2022, the expected price of the Redmi Note 11S is 358 SGD which is a drop by roughly 90 SGD when compared to the tentative pricing released in March and the speculated release date in Singapore is by the first week of September.
Highlights of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S
Premium Build with IP53 Rating - I normally prefer something with a sleek design and rounded edges and the Note 11S doesn’t disappoint. It’s a pretty slim phone that is coupled with Gorilla Glass 3 as well as an IP53 splash resistance rating, making it the ideal mid-range smartphone. .
Large Dynamic Display - The Note 11S features a bright and dynamic 6.43-inch AMOLED display which I found to be quite refreshing to look at. It delivers 2400 x 1080 FHD+ resolution at 90Hz refresh rate making it pretty fluid to use as well.
Excellent Performance - Inside the Note 11S, lies a 2.05GHz MediaTek Helio G96 processor. This octa-core beast is able to perform at peak levels thanks to the 8GB DDR4X RAM resulting in an uber smooth and responsive user experience.
In addition to this, the Note 11S also comes with built-in 64GB UFS 2.2 storage (128GB variant available too) which is great considering the phone has a pro-grade camera setup, so the expandable storage is definitely worth it.
Brilliant Camera Setup - One of the main reasons why the Note 11S is one of my favorites is because it is loaded with one of the best camera setups in the market for this price range.
The quad camera leads with a 108MP Samsung H2 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and two 2MP sensors, one for macro shots and one with a f/2.4 depth sensor.
The selfie camera is a 16MP f/2.4 sensor which is truly amazing for the price and photos and videos are always detailed with the right color tones.
Huge Battery - Another impressive highlight of the Note 11S is its huge 5000mAh built-in rechargeable battery. I was able to get over a full day's work from a single charge and this included watching videos and listening to music.
The Note 11S supports 33W fast charging which is capable of taking the phone from 0-50% in under 45 minutes.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S Design Singapore
The Redmi Note 11S is a well designed mid-range smartphone with a matte finish. In my opinion, it looks quite like the others from the Note 11 range and it comes with an IP53 splash resistance rating, a flat body and a large rectangular camera island at the back.
On the right side of the Note 11S lies the volume and power button along with the fingerprint sensor. As a right-handed person, this layout is perfect as I can easily access all the major buttons as well as unlock the device using just my thumb.
The left side of the phone has the SIM card slot and unfortunately since the Note 11S does not support microSD cards the SIM tray does not have a hybrid slot built in.
At the top of the Note 11S, you’d find the 3.5mm headphone jack and at the bottom is the USB-C charging port and microphone. Since the Note 11S comes with dual stereo speakers, one speaker is situated at the top and one is positioned at the bottom near the microphone.
Overall, the design is impressive and the Note 11S does not feel like a mid-range smartphone. In fact, I felt that the flat design, matte finish, large camera housing and Gorilla Glass 3 make it an interesting buy for under 400 SGD.
Now, on to the display.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S Display
The Note 11S 5G has a reasonably good display for its price. It’s equipped with a 6.43-inch 1080p AMOLED display that is large, bright, and which I found to be quite colorful especially during my day time tests.
With a resolution of 2400 * 1080 and regardless of what I was doing, whether it was watching a video or shooting one, the Note 11S delivered clear and crisp visuals all the time.
The 90Hz frame rate made it feel fluid and my overall experience using the display was smooth with a decent response rate.
For the price, the display is perfect for everyday use. I could game lag-free, watch movies in detail and the large screen was a blessing while navigating using the built-in maps app.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S Performance
Coming to the performance of the Note 11S, it’s powered by a MediaTek Helios G85 processor that packs quite a punch especially when using the phone primarily for day-to-day tasks. It’s quite powerful and helps make multitasking easier.
I also loved the fact that the Note 11S uses a new and improved 6GB/8GB DDR4X RAM and comes with two storage options; 64GB and 128GB which was more than enough space to store my photos and videos.
The hardware tied in with the new MIUI 13 makes the Note 11S a performance driven smartphone on a budget. Though the processor and RAM options could be better, it’s still a gem of a device and is capable of powering through your daily routine with ease.
The Note 11S is also compatible with MIUI 14, so it will receive the update when Xiaomi launches it globally. Until then, there’s nothing more that I could ask for in terms of performance of the Note 11S.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S Singapore Camera
One of the most interesting features of the Note 11S is the camera setup. Now unlike the Note 11 Pro which comes with a 108MP triple camera setup, the Note 11S employs a quad camera setup with an additional 2MP ultra-wide lens.
Considering that this phone costs under 400 SGD, the camera setup alone makes it worth the buy. Though the 108MP rear lens does an impressive job during the day by producing real life-like images and videos, it tends to struggle a bit at night and the images can be a bit grainy.
The front selfie camera is a 16MP lens that is great for the occasional selfie or reels and the only drawback is that, quite like the Note 11 Pro 5G, the Note 11S also over processes images taken from the front.
My overall experience using the camera was on the positive side and while Xiaomi can definitely up their game in the camera department, it would be amazing if they decided to focus more on producing better quality primary cameras and reduce on the over processing of photos taken with the selfie camera.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S Singapore Battery
Xiaomi is well known for their battery backup and their Note 11 range delivers some of the best battery life for the specs they come with.
It does come with a built-in 5000mAh Li-Po battery that works for well over a day on a single charge and this is also because the chipset powering the device is energy efficient.
In terms of charging capabilities, the Note 11S is able to charge at regular speeds and also supports 33W fast charging. From what I was able to test, the device can charge 0-50% in under 45 minutes and this is nearly double the time it takes to charge the Note 11 Pro 5G.
Since it’s a mid-range device with a powerhouse of specs under the hood, I'm not surprised that the phone is able to last for more than a day. In fact, the long lasting battery with good fast charging capabilities has made the battery one of my favorite features of the Note 11S.
