Is Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 Accurate?
The Mi Body Composition Scale 2 from Xiaomi has become increasingly popular in recent years, as it offers a reliable high-tech way of keeping track of your body composition and health.
But how accurate is it really? The Mi Body Composition Scale 2 utilizes 4 high precision sensors and 21 bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) data points to accurately measure 11 essential body composition readings. This includes body weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass, body water percentage, BMI, and more.
And it does this with a 0.1kg high precision weight sensor and accuracy rate of 95%, ensuring that its results are correct. Another feature of the Mi Body Composition Scale 2 is its ability to recognize up to 16 users, providing everyone in the family with the opportunity to use it.
The scale also offers a pregnant mode, which recognizes this special condition and provides even more accurate readings.
So overall, people who have tried the Mi Body Composition Scale 2 have reported that it is quite accurate and reliable. Although it is still important to remember that it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, and that if you have serious health concerns it is always better to see a doctor.
Can Xiaomi scale 2 measure body fat?
The Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 is designed to provide an accurate assessment of an individual’s body composition, including information on weight, water content, body fat, BMI, muscle mass and more. So, can this scale be used to accurately measure body fat? The short answer to this question is 'yes,' but it's important to understand that the accuracy of the scale largely depends on the person using it.
The Mi Body Composition Scale 2 uses advanced BIA technology to measure bio-electrical impedance - which sends a small electrical current through the person's body to measure the amount of water content present. This data is then used to estimate the amount of fat present in the body.
However, the accuracy of this measurement can be affected by things such as high levels of hydration, malnutrition, medical conditions and certain medications. Therefore, it's important to understand the limitations of this scale and check in with a doctor or qualified dietitian if you have any questions about your body fat content.
That being said, for healthy individuals, the Mi Body Composition Scale 2 can provide a fairly accurate assessment of their body fat levels. It's also worth noting that the Mi Body Composition Scale 2 continuously updates its algorithms, meaning that its readings can become more accurate over time. This ensures that users are provided with reliable and consistent data – making the Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 an ideal choice for those looking to track their body fat levels accurately.

Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 Design
To start things off, the design of the Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 is truly minimalistic, quite like all of Xiaomi’s other devices.
It’s white all around and the reinforced glass covering the top of the scale is extremely durable and can handle up to 400lbs.
The scale has rounded corners and under the glass sits a LED display that lit up only when I stood on the scale. At other times when the scale was not in use, it’s like there wasn’t even a display there, that’s how sleek the scale is.
The base of the scale is made from smooth plastic and at the center sits the battery case which supports 4*AAA batteries. But it would have been better if Xiaomi replaced the removable batteries with a built-in rechargeable battery and provided a charger with the scale 2.
Anyway, I did find the legs under the scale to be quite rubbery but it helped maintain the scales footing, so that’s a plus point in my book.
All-in-all, I loved the design of the Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 and though there could have been a few minor changes with respect to the battery case, definitely something I see myself using regularly, so I guess I can move past that.
Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 Performance
Coming to the performance of the Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2, the scale has four pressure plates positioned at each of its four corners. These plates help calculate the exact weight based on the amount of pressure applied at the top of the scale.
I did notice that unlike most other scales, the Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 did not measure my weight if I stood on it with just one foot, but it did calculate my balance after standing on it just for a couple of seconds. This is a good feature and from what I can tell, it can help minimize the chance of getting wrong weight readings.
Another thing about the scale that i’d like to bring up is that in order to get more than just my body weight and if I had to check, say other metrics such as my bone density or fat levels, I had to take off my socks while standing on the scale.
This is because scale 2 sends low frequency signals through the body in order to track other biometrics and for it to be successful, it needs skin contact. The only thing it doesn’t seem to be capable of doing is track heart rate, but I guess we can see that sometime in the future, maybe with a Scale 3?
I did not mind that the Scale 2 doesn’t offer Wi-Fi capabilities, however, I was able to connect the scale 2 with my smartphone by pairing the two devices using Bluetooth 5.0 and this was an easy way for me to track everything the scale measured.
A fun fact about the scale 2: It can support up to 16 profiles at a time, so different members of a family can use the same scale and track their information separately.
Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2 App Support
While I was able to use the Scale 2 as it was to measure my body weight, I was unable to track other health and fitness levels such as fat, muscle mass, protein levels, water levels, bone density and more without installing the Mi Fit App.
The Mi health app is available on the Google Play Store as well as the App store for free and will easily pair with the Scale 2 from the moment the app is installed.
I could record my data and view individual metrics with figures and charts. This helped me understand whether or not I was meeting my daily goals or if there was something I needed to pay close attention to.
The Mi Fit app not only connects to the Scale 2, but can be paired with many of Xiaomi’s other health trackers and devices like their smartwatches, fitness bands and more.
The app took my basic information such as age, height, initial weight, gender and based on this it was able to calculate my ideal weight, body age and BMI.
I did love using the app and there were no issues per se, but i felt that Xiaomi could have at least offered to integrate the app with other health devices out of their ecosystem.
