by Jenny Xiao
Roborock vs Deebot

I have taken a liking to smart home devices and when it comes to robot vacuum cleaners there are quite a number available in the market.

The idea to have a robotic device complete your cleaning tasks at home was pretty far fetched earlier. Now, almost every household has one. During my quest to search for the best robot vacuum, two names stood out from the rest; Roborock vs Deebot.

Both these companies changed the way autonomous cleaning should be carried out.

Let’s take a look at what both these companies have to offer in terms of price, specs and capabilities.

Roborock vs Deebot

As you may know already, Roborock is a Chinese tech company that specializes in smart home products. But did you know that the Deebot was also manufactured by a Chinese tech company named Ecovacs Robotics?

It’s true.. Two of the best smart home tech companies are donning the market with their irresistible smart robot vacuums. It’s time to see what’s special about these 6 vacuums and which company will be the ultimate winner.

Roborock S8 Pro Ultra vs. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni: Performance

Suction Power: Ecovacs packs a punch with a staggering 8,000 Pa of suction, nearly double the Roborock's 6,000 Pa. This translates to effortlessly sucking up everything from dust bunnies to Cheerios stuck under the couch.

However, the Roborock compensates with its dual-roller brush system, preventing tangles and hair snags, a common X2 Omni complaint.

Mopping Marvels: Both robots mop, but with distinct approaches. The X2 Omni uses dual rotating mops that scrub like tiny janitors, excelling on hard floors.

Roborock vs Deebot performance

The Roborock employs vibrating sonic mops, ideal for tackling stubborn stains on both hard floors and carpets. Ultimately, the victor depends on your floor type and stain-battling needs.

Navigation Ninjas: Both utilize advanced LiDAR navigation for precise mapping and obstacle avoidance. The X2 Omni boasts its TrueMapping 2.0, claiming superior edge cleaning thanks to its square shape.

The Roborock counters with ReactiveAI 2.0, dynamically adjusting its cleaning path for real-time obstacle avoidance. It's a close call, with both navigating complex layouts with impressive accuracy.

Roborock S8 Pro Ultra vs. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni: Features

Auto Emptying: Both robots boast self-emptying dustbins, a game-changer for convenience. The X2 Omni uses a disposable bag system, needing refills, while the Roborock features a washable dustbin, more eco-friendly but requiring manual cleaning.

Mop Washing Wonders: The X2 Omni takes the cake here. Its auto mop washing station scrubs and dries the mops after each clean, ensuring pristine mopping pads for every session. The Roborock lacks this feature, requiring manual mop cleaning.

Smart Home Compatible: Both integrate seamlessly with smart home systems, allowing you to control them via voice or app. The X2 Omni offers a slight edge with its built-in air freshener, diffusing pleasant scents as it cleans.

Verdict:

Picking a winner is tough. The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni boasts raw suction power, superior mopping on hard floors, and an auto mop washing station for ultimate convenience. However, the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra counters with its tangle-free brush system, effective mopping on all surfaces, and a washable dustbin. Ultimately, the choice boils down to your priorities.

In terms of battery life and charging time, both devices would take about 6 hours for a full charge and if used in the right manner, both devices will last approximately 130-180 minutes on a single charge.

The Deebot 920 features multi-floor mapping and can save up to 3 different maps. The entire floor plan will be mapped using LDS and this data will be stored on your smartphone for later use. On the other hand, the Roborock S5 has a precision navigation system and follows a ‘Z’ shaped cleaning path.

Verdict : Though they are the same in so many ways, the Roborock S5 is the winner for this category.

Cleaning Abilities

Roborock vs Deebot

Equipped with Zone cleaning, both robot vacuums have no-go zones, no-mop zones and are ideal for rugs and carpets.

The Deebot 920 has 2 filtration systems which can destroy up to 99% bacteria and other airborne particles whereas, the Roborock S5 has one HEPA filter that can eliminate dust and airborne particles with 99% accuracy.

Both devices are capable of sweeping and mopping the house. However, the Roborock S5 can not sweep and mop simultaneously and would have to carry out each task individually.

Both devices are able to automatically dock themselves to recharge their batteries if they are low on charge and will continue from where they left off post recharging. The only limitation to the Deebot 920 is the fact that it can not deep clean carpets. Unlike the S5 that has a multi-surface brush which is capable of cleaning debris found in carpets.

Verdict : Both products seem to be similar in terms of cleaning abilities but the Roborock has still managed to win yet another round as it can deep clean carpets.

Usability

Roborock vs Deebot

In terms of usability, both the devices can be connected via WiFi and controlled through designated smartphone apps. The Deebot 920 and the Roborock S5 can be instructed via Alexa voice commands and cleaning becomes easier and more convenient by setting a cleaning schedule on either of the devices.

Both the Deebot 920 and the Roborock S5 have zone cleaning which can be configured within the smartphone app. This enables them to clean some rooms or areas of a room while staying away from this you designate as no-clean or no-mop zones.

The best part of both these robot vacuums, the Deebot 920 and the Roborock S5 is that you will only have to focus on setting them up once and the rest is history. However, they don’t have automatic dust disposal so their dustbins will have to be emptied manually once they’re full.

Verdict : In terms of Usability, both devices tied at how efficiently they can be handled.

Deebot 950 vs Roborock S6

On paper the Deebot 950 and the S6 are identical except for a few design changes and the lack of a HEPA filter in the Deebot. The overall performance on the other hand would be something to look into before picking one up.

Deebot 950 vs Roborock S6 - Performance

Roborock vs Deebot

With next to no difference in the way these two are built to function, the Deebot 950 and the S6 use laser guided navigation to find their way around rooms, they are able to create maps which will be stored on the smartphone app. This can be edited to include barriers or areas that must not be cleaned.

The batteries on these devices are 5200 mAh rechargeable batteries that power the robot vacuum to get the job done. These devices can automatically dock themselves to recharge if their batteries run low and a complete recharge would take about half the time on the Roborock S6 at about 2.5 hours.

The Roborock S6 is quieter than the Deebot 950 and this makes the S6 ideal to use at home.

Verdict : In terms of overall performance, the Roborock wins thanks to its ability to recharge faster and considering it produces less noise.

Cleaning Abilities

Roborock vs Deebot

Between these two, the Deebot 950 can clean a larger area than the S6 while simultaneously mopping for longer but would have to be emptied faster than the Roborock S6.

The Deebot 950 does not come with a HEPA filter, rather it is equipped with a high performance filter that can eliminate up to 99.28% dust and bacteria from the floors. The Roborock S6 is equipped with a HEPA filter and can guarantee a clean house with no dust on the floor or in the air.

The Roborock S6 and the Deebot 950 are capable of sweeping and mopping the floors. However, the Deebot 950 has a larger water tank capacity and an electric water flow control feature that restricts leakages.

The Roborock S6 has a smaller water tank capacity and does not have an electric water flow control to restrict the flow of water when not in use. The only advantage with the S6 is that with a larger dustbin capacity, it’s sure to clean more before having to be emptied out.

Verdict : The Deebot 950 wins against the Roborock S6 in terms of cleaning abilities.

Usability

Roborock vs Deebot

There are practically no differences between how these two devices can be operated. The Deebot 950 and the Roborock S6 come WiFi enabled and can be connected to your smartphone via an App.

Events can be scheduled and zones can be created with both devices. They even support voice commands via Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Deebot 950 and the Roborock S6 have Carpet boost sensors and Cliff sensors that restrict their movement based on their surroundings. When the robot vacuums enter a carpeted room, they automatically turn on carpet boost, this enables them to clean the carpeted floor easily.

With it being easy to control both the Deebot 950 and the Roborock S6, the only time you’d have to handle them is when their dustbins are full and need to be emptied or when their water tanks require to be topped up. The rest can be controlled from anywhere as long as they are connected to the WiFi.

Verdict : It is a tie between the Deebot 950 and the Roborock S6.

Final Verdict - Which bot should you buy?

Roborock and Ecovacs Deebot are stunning devices that can do exactly what they were created to, with less to no human touch. They are ideal for houses and offices and though they are pretty much identical in so many ways, the main difference between them is the price they’re sold at.

If you’re in the market for something that can clean more while mopping, at a reasonable price then go for the Deebot 950 or the Deebot 920.

However, if it’s a robot vacuum that is efficient, well known, can deep clean carpets, equipped with a HEPA filter and does everything else a robot vacuum can, irrespective of the price then the Roborock S5 or the Roborock S6 would be the best choice for you. The article Roborock vs Deebot is a comparison between two great companies that look and feel like they’re related in some way. At the very end, it is up to you to pick one based on your personal preference.

Is Roborock a Xiaomi product?

Well, yes and no. Roborock was initially under the Xiaomi umbrella and even manufactured the first Xiaomi Mi Robot. But since then Roborock has been its own entity, working to manufacture their own brand of Smart Home products.

Does Deebot need WiFi?

The Deebot robot vacuums do not need WiFi to work and can clean the whole house without any network. However, if you’re looking to connect your Deebot vacuum to the smartphone app you will require WiFi or a stable wireless network connection.

Is it worth buying a robot vacuum?

Truth be told, a robot vacuum is a good idea especially for working class people who do not have time to keep the house clean. With schedules that can be preset along with the ability to sweep and mop make them ideal companions at home.
