Which is the Best Xiaomi Gaming Phone?

The Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro stands out as the best Xiaomi gaming phone of 2024. It is specifically tailored for serious gamers with its powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, high refresh rate OLED display, and built-in triggers. This phone is designed to deliver an exceptional gaming experience, making it the top choice for gamers seeking a dedicated gaming device.

Best Xiaomi Gaming Phones

Black Shark 5 Pro (2024)

The Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro stands as a testament to Xiaomi's commitment to delivering an exceptional gaming experience on a mobile platform. Armed with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a stunning 144Hz OLED display, and a range of gaming-centric features, it's a device tailor-made for serious gamers.

Performance and Display:

The Black Shark 5 Pro impresses with its blistering performance. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, combined with up to 16GB of RAM, ensures seamless multitasking and lag-free gaming. The 144Hz OLED display is nothing short of breathtaking, providing crisp visuals with vivid colors and rapid refresh rates. Whether you're gaming or simply navigating through the interface, the responsiveness is top-notch.

Design and Features:

Designed with gamers in mind, the Black Shark 5 Pro exudes a sleek yet bold aesthetic. The inclusion of programmable magnetic triggers is a game-changer, enhancing control and precision. The customizable LED lighting on the rear adds a touch of flair, appealing to the gaming enthusiast. It's a marriage of form and function that strikes a fine balance.

Battery and Charging:

While the battery capacity falls slightly short of the competition, the Black Shark 5 Pro compensates with its exceptional 120W charging capability. This means you can juice up the device from empty to full in a mere 18 minutes. However, for prolonged gaming sessions, users may find themselves reaching for the charger more often than expected.

Cooling Concerns:

One notable drawback is the device's tendency to heat up during extended gaming sessions. Despite purported improvements in cooling, it remains a prominent issue. This can adversely affect performance and comfort, necessitating the consideration of external cooling solutions, which is less than ideal for a premium device.

Camera Capabilities:

Surprisingly, the Black Shark 5 Pro doesn't skimp on camera quality. The 108 MP main shooter, coupled with advanced features like improved aperture, AI processing, and HDR support, yields impressive results. It's a pleasant surprise in a device primarily focused on gaming.

Poco X4 Pro 5G

The Poco X4 Pro 5G offers an unexpectedly high-end experience for a mid-range pricing. It is one of the best Xiaomi Gaming phones you can buy right now, especially if your budget is not high.

Xiaomi 11T

The Xiaomi 11T is a sleeper hit. It has caught my eye for its eye-watering fast 120W charging on the Pro model. The phone is also well rounded with a powerful processor, gorgeous screen, and large battery.  The camera hardware is also decent considering the price.

Overall, the Xiaomi 11T is a good gaming phone for buyers that can't afford the best of the best. It supports 12 5G bands but doesn't have support for mmWave which is a bummer. It will run flawlessly on supported carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Mint.

The new entry in the famous line of Redmi Note smartphones, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is an upgrade over last year's hugely popular Note 10 Pro 5G.

As the name suggests, this is a 5G phone. And what is impressive is that the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G supports 13 5G bands unlike the others in its price category that only support a few.

There is no mmWave support, but given the price that is not possible. It will run on T-Mobile and Mint without any issues.

Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro

This is the younger sibling to Xiaomi Mi 10 which you will see below is one of the best value phones you can buy out there. It screams premium yet comes at a lower cost than its elder sister. The phone is packed with the Snapdragon 865, 8 GBs of RAM, and a 5000 mAh battery.

  • The biggest drawing point of the phone is its super-fast 144hz display panel. This is one of the fastest displays you can get on a phone right now. It also supports games that can take the advantage of using the processor and the screen can give you experiences like that of a gaming monitor.

This is one of the best games you can buy for gaming period. To cut costs, Xiaomi has opted for a less premium feel to the device, and the screen may not look as good as its costlier sister.

Xiaomi Black Shark 3

The only official gaming phone on this list. Xiaomi engineered this phone with one thing in mind and it was gaming, they wanted to give you the best gaming experience you can get on a phone from them. The specs are overbearing with the Snapdragon 865, 8/12 GBs of RAM, and a 4750 mAh battery for long, immersive gaming sessions.

  • It has a huge 6.67-inch 90 Hz display to provide you with the best gaming experience. The looks may let down some apart from avid gamers but it still is an amazing package for the price.

The price being cheaper than most of the Snapdragon 865-equipped phones makes the deal a lot sweeter and gives you some of the best value.

Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro

The successor to the widely popular and critically acclaimed Poco F1, the Poco F2 pro came in with the right upgrades. And what makes this an absolute beast for gaming is its Snapdragon 865 with a trifecta core design. It has a 1x 2.84GHz super large core + 3 x 2.42GHz large core + 4 x 1.80GHz small core that efficiently manages the tasks and battery life.

  • This phone has high specs low price phone which ticks all the essential boxes. It comes with an excellent 1080p AMOLED screen to keep you hooked while gaming.  This screen along with the Adreno 650 GPU results in beautiful visual experiences.

This phone can let you game for hours on end with its powerful 4700 mAh battery. And with fast charging available, you can game nonstop. It also happens to be one of the very few phones out there that's seriously worth the money.

Xiaomi Poco X3

The cheaper middle-of-the-line Poco offering from Xiaomi is the Poco X3 and this is an outstanding phone for its price. With its Snapdragon 732G and 6 GB of RAM, it can handle any game or application you throw at it.

  • It is the perfect phone if you are restricted to a budget, and you can't go wrong with it. Like all Xiaomi phones, it comes with a massive 5160 mAh battery to keep you gaming for hours on a single charge.

The cherry on top of all these awesome specs is the 120 Hz screen which is hard to find in this price range. This is one of the best gaming phones you can buy at this price category.

Selecting the Ideal Xiaomi Gaming Phone

Xiaomi boasts an extensive lineup of phones, and when it comes to optimizing for an exceptional gaming experience, specific features become pivotal.

Below, are few of the crucial factors to consider while selecting the best Xiaomi gaming phone for your needs.

Processing Power:

  • Processor: Opt for a flagship chipset such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or 8+ Gen 1 to enjoy high-end games without experiencing framerate drops. Alternatively, consider the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or 870 for mid-range options that adeptly handle most games.
  • RAM: A minimum of 8GB RAM ensures smooth multitasking and gaming, while 12GB or more is ideal for handling intense games.

Display:

  • Refresh Rate: Prioritize a high refresh rate (120Hz or higher) for smoother visuals and faster response times, crucial for competitive gaming.
  • Touch Response Rate: Aim for a touch response rate of 240Hz or higher to ensure lightning-fast touch responsiveness, especially beneficial in fast-paced games.
  • Panel Type: Opt for AMOLED panels, offering superior contrast and HDR support for vibrant in-game visuals.

Cooling System:

  • Liquid Cooling: Seek phones equipped with vapor chambers or liquid cooling systems to prevent overheating and throttling during extended gaming sessions.
  • Thermal Management Software: Consider devices with advanced software that adjusts performance and throttling based on temperature, providing an additional bonus.

Battery and Charging:

  • Battery Capacity: A recommended minimum of 4500mAh for extended gaming sessions.
  • Fast Charging: Look for support for 65W or higher fast charging to quickly refuel your phone during breaks.

Gaming-Specific Features:

  • Trigger Buttons: Certain Xiaomi phones, like the Black Shark series, feature physical pop-up triggers for enhanced control in FPS and racing games.
  • Game Mode: A dedicated game mode optimizes performance, blocks notifications, and allocates resources for uninterrupted gameplay.

What is the best Xiaomi phone for gaming?

If you are looking for a new gaming phone, Xiaomi should be on top of your list. Xiaomi offers some of the best phones which blows their competition away in terms of performance, value, and features for the price.

Gaming on mobile has taken a leap in popularity over the past few years. This fact has only solidified with the pandemic. You can’t go wrong by choosing any of the phones from above as long as it suits your price. The best Xiaomi phone for gaming is Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro.

It comes with an amazing processor and a GPU that offers an amazing gaming experience. It also has a 5000mAh battery that can last for 12-15 hours. And that's with continuous gaming.

For gaming, Xiaomi phones do an amazing job with a lot of inbuilt features that boost your gameplay to the next level. They use excellent thermal solutions to keep your phone cool and the huge batteries make you play longer. Their software is optimized for you to enjoy gaming for long hours without any hiccups or disturbances.

Pick them up to have an edge over your non-Xiaomi phone gaming friends, and even they will be jealous of you. All of them are sure to be your perfect gaming companion. And as a bonus, they will be your perfect everyday companion too.

Should I buy a Xiaomi phone from China?

If you live in the US, you might be tempted to purchase a Xiaomi phone from Chinese importers like GearBest and Geekbuying. Readers from other parts of the world will also discover that there are still some models that are still only available in China and may tempt you to do so, such as the top-of-the-line 12S Ultra.

If you do, be careful to get a device with a global ROM installed, or else be ready to fiddle with the software once it is received (novice users should avoid this). The global models come pre-installed with an English-language UI and full access to Google services.

Second, if you buy something from China, keep in mind that your consumer rights differ from those when you buy something from somewhere else and that, should something go wrong, you'll have a harder time getting after-sales help.

Finally, the delivery may be a hassle. The average delivery time will be longer, however quick and free shipping options are frequently available. More than that, though, there can be other expenses: you might be required to pay import duty when the phone arrives, which is determined by the amount listed on the shipping documents and typically includes an additional admin fee.
