The Roidmi X20 has one thing for sure, a smart vacuum cleaner. But what can it do? What are the features and is it worth considering to add to your buying list of appliances? First, let's check out the contents.

This is an innovative new addition to Xiaomi's arsenal of amazing gadgets. Like most Xiaomi products, the Roidmi X20 vacuum cleaner comes inside a brown cardboard box. On the box, you'll find an image of the device itself. You'll also find a few specs on the sides along with some technical information.

Inside the Packaging is:

• The instruction manual (very useful)
• Power adapter and a wall-mounted magnetic adapter.

For brushes and mops, the package contains quite a lot of them. There are around 6 amazing brushes and mops that you get right out of the box and these things are very useful when attached to the powerful yet effective vacuum cleaner.

The 6 brushes and mops are:

• Small cleaning brush
• A floor roller brush
• A motorized mattress brush
• A floor mop unit with a spare extra mop
• A soft mattress or what they call it a sofa brush
• A motorized floor brush.

That is quite a lot, to be honest with you, but you can do a lot with these accessories. Having many brushes and mops gives you that flexibility in handling different types of situations. We need to give some credit where credit is due, Xiaomi went above and beyond with this Smart cleaner, at least with its attachments.

Physical Design

The Xiaomi Roidmi X20 is one of the best-looking vacuums in the market. It'd be much better than the latest Dyson Vacuum cleaners. It comes in a white/grey design scheme with an orange brush. Honestly, it looks like a futuristic ray-gun.

• The Xiaomi Roidmi X20 smart vacuum cleaner is a great vacuum cleaner and has a diameter of 119.1 x 25.9 x 15.8cm and it weighs just around 2.6KG (or 1.5KG if it is only configured as a hand vacuum without its accessories).

• The design is sleek and ergonomic. You can definitely manoeuvre it as you want. I've used this vacuum for a while and I do find this color to be prone to acquiring dirt overtime especially for a smart appliance that is geared towards cleaning dirt. I suggest for it to be regularly cleaned from time to time so as to retain its pristine white color and not an ageing greyish white. Aside from the white color, there is a small strip of red accent as a nice finishing touch.

• In the middle of the vacuum cleaner itself, there is a transparent plastic where you can see the motor and the dirt goes in after the vacuum captures it.

• Other than that, the Xiaomi Roidmi X20’s physical design is a good one overall. Sure, there are some things that are worth taking a look at like the color and weight but once you get around with it, it will be a great performer.

• It also comes with a wall mount and wall charger. This is also complete white and looks a spaceship dock. Yes, you definitely can't have it in hall. Especially the wall charger as it will more than gather a few eyeballs.

Internal Features

The internal features of the Xiaomi Roidmi X20 smart vacuum cleaner are what you would expect from a smart vacuum cleaner.

• It is strong, reliable and is capable of cleaning up almost any type of dirt that may occupy your home. For noise levels, it is relatively quiet on its low or normal speed but it cranks up once you start hitting up the highest speed. This high-speed power mode can help you cut through dirt in seconds. Especially, if it's on bare floors. Carpets may take some time.

• Battery life is great and it is a 2500 mAh lithium-ion. It does last quite a bit longer than most portable vacuum cleaners, having at around 65 minutes on normal speed but clocks even lower if you crank up the speed levels to high which its battery life degraded faster. For a vacuum cleaner that has a higher speed, the battery lasts for around 12 minutes.

Fortunately, charging the battery of the Xiaomi Roidmi X20 is quite simple, to be honest with you. There are two ways for you to charge this vacuum cleaner.

• One is to use the included wireless wall adapter where you simply plug in your device onto the magnetic charger and it is good to go.

• On the other hand, you can also charge the vacuum cleaner through a regular charging cable. There is a port located on the top of the vacuum cleaner where you plug in the included charging cable. Charging time for the Xiaomi Roidmi X20 takes around 2.5 hours which is incredibly long for this device.

Performance

When it comes to performance, I can state with complete confidence that this is one of the best when it comes to both real-time and long-term performance. The long-term performance, especially, is stellar. I've used this handheld vacuum cleaner for almost a year and it is still going strong.

• It is still pretty much the same in terms of power and battery life. While you may think, one year is too little to justify long term performance, I've put it through some tremendous amount of stress. In fact, I used this device every three days to clean the length and breadth of a warehouse

• When it comes to real-time performance, it is better than the majority of the high-end vacuum cleaners. However, it does have it's pros and cons. For example, I've discovered that it is exceptional when you use it to clean hard floors and even the mop is effective however, it struggles a bit when you use it on carpets.

• I've put it through various tests and found out that it quite powerful when it comes to suction power as it can reach 120 airwatts on the maximum setting. In fact, the three modes actually offer significant flexibility when you're tackling multiple rooms.

• It's alright at cleaning out the carpets, the larger the size of the debris the better the job. However, it barely picked up the hair and pet dander. So, although it is quite amazing when it comes to hard floors, it might not be the best investment for users with pets.

App

The Xiaomi Roidmi X20 has a free app called the Roidmi Cleaner that you can download on iOS or Android.

The app offers a few features like showing battery percentage, battery life, cleaner status, and filter life. The app also has a manual that lets users know how to use change attachments, charge the device, and more.

Apart from this, the app doesn't help. The manual and filter life are the only reasons I would use the app with the Xiaomi Roidmi X20. You can also switch between modes on the fly which is neat.

Battery Life

The Xiaomi Roidmi X20 features a 2500 mAh battery that has a rated battery life of 60 minutes for the lowest power mode (60W). Xiaomi also claims that the battery can last for 38 minutes on medium mode (80W) and around 10 minutes on the highest (100W) mode.

In our testing, the Xiaomi Riodmi X20 lasted approximately 11 minutes on the highest setting. This is not much but given the cleaning performance at lower modes, it is decent. The charging time might be a problem as it takes 2.5 hours to charge from 0 to 100%.

I've been looking for a Dyson-class cordless vacuum for some time now, not wanting to get a Dyson since they're so unbelievably ugly.

I saw the Roidmi pop up on amazon, did some initial research and bought the complete set. I am very very pleased with the vacuum which is both aesthetically and functionally well-designed. You can use the app to change the default power setting to medium/high (rather than the default low/high) and this serves my needs the best.

On the high setting, this vacuum picked up dirt and dust that my older cordless stick vacuum left behind. the tools that are included in this set are all great as well.

As an added bonus, I received an email from a representative at the company after my purchase offering to be a resource for any questions I might have - that's excellent customer service.

I highly recommend this vacuum.

Wow! Actually cordless for a great value! Most vacuums like this are shown without a cord in the picture to trick you, but this one is ACTUALLY cordless. And it works! It sucks up dirt, dust and pet hair like a champ. We have two long haired dogs that constantly shed, and this compact vacuum can keep up with them. We have an early Dyson version that loses charge quickly now, and doesn’t manueverbnearly as smoothly as this one. For the price, this vacuum is perfect.

Great vacuum cleaner. Slightly top heavy but it is very powerful for how small it is. It has a normal setting (which is powerful enough) that lasts about 55 minutes on a full charge. Then there’s a more powerful suction that lasts about 30 mins on a full charge. I purchased the complete set so it came with different attachments for tile, carpet, bed etc. It also has an app that you can connect to your phone to show how many minutes of use you have left. It automatically connects to the machine via Bluetooth.

The app shows you the charging status, how many minutes you have left and how many minutes it would take to fully charge. There’s also a wall mount that u can stick to the wall (sticky tape or screws, you choose) if you wanted to store it on a wall. Otherwise you have to lay it on the ground or against a wall because it cannot stand up on its own. Footprint is quite small in general. It moves around easily allowing you to turn the handle without having to turn the entire unit in those hard to reach places. I think it works better than a Dyson!
